Turritoma tenuifilosa was named by Donald (1906) [Turritoma (?) tenuifilosa Donald 1906]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Catazone tenuifilosa by Longstaff (1924); it was recombined as Hormotoma tenuifilosa by Wagner (2023).
