Worthenia cognata was named by Perner (1903) [Barrande in Perner 1903]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pleurotomaria (Coronilla) cognata by Perner (1907); it was recombined as Ruedemannia cognata by Wagner (2023).
