Taxonomy
Berckhemeraster was named by Blake and Hagdorn (2003). It is not extant. Its type is Berckhemeraster charistikos. It was considered monophyletic by Blake and Hagdorn (2003).

It was assigned to Trichasteropsiidae by Blake and Hagdorn (2003); and to Trichasteropsidae by Gale (2011).
