Taxonomy
Ganeriidae was named by Sladen (1889) [Initial spelling "Ganeriinae". Erected at family level by Perrier (1893)]. It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Gale (1987).

It was assigned to Leptognathina by Spencer and Wright (1966); and to Valvatida by Blake (1981), Gale (1987), Blake (1989) and Mah and Blake (2012).
