Glycymeris canalis democraciana was named by Hodson et al. (1927). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Glycymeris democraciana by Hodson and Hodson (1927) and Thomas (1972); it was recombined as Glycymeris (Glycymeris) democraciana by Jung (1965); it was recombined as Tucetona democraciana by Hendy et al. (2015).
