Zoroasteridae was named by Sladen (1889). It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Gale (1987) and Mah and Blake (2012).
It was assigned to Asteriadina by Spencer and Wright (1966); to Zorocallida by Downey (1970) and Eagle (2006); to Forcipulatida by Gale (2011); to Forcipulatida by Gale (1987), Blake (1989) and Mah and Blake (2012); and to Zorocallina by Ewin and Gale (2020).
