Zorocallida was named by Downey (1970). It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Fau and Villier (2023).

It was reranked as the suborder Zorocallina by Eagle (2006), Ewin and Gale (2020) and Gale and Jagt (2021).

It was assigned to Asteroidea by Downey (1970); to Forcipulatida by Eagle (2006), Ewin and Gale (2020) and Gale and Jagt (2021); and to Forcipulatacea by Fau and Villier (2023).
