Manfredaster was named by Villier et al. (2004). It is not extant. Its type is Manfredaster cariniferus. It was considered monophyletic by Villier et al. (2004).

It was assigned to Stauranderasteridae by Villier et al. (2004).

L. Villier et al. 2004High convex disc; short robust arms. Carinal and marginal plates tall, triangular articulated near the base of the arm through kidney-shaped articulatory processes, and in the mid part of the arm by large, flat triangular surfaces. Ornament of a raised central area and a depressed margin covered with numerous fine, dense granule-pits. A single row of radial abactinal plates in the arm. Furrows on plate corners for papular area. No spines on marginals and abactinals. Pedicellariae-pits of oval, winged type. Primary plates of the disc enlarged, domed.
