Taxonomy
Scapharca crandalli was named by Maury (1924). Its type locality is Rio Pirabas (Maury coll.), which is in a Miocene shallow subtidal limestone/limestone in the Pirabas Formation of Brazil.
It was recombined as Scapharca (Cunearca) crandalli by Tavora et al. (2004).
