Crepidula plana was named by Say (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; Florida.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is USNM 136061, a shell.

It was recombined as Crepidula (Ianacus) plana by Warmke and Abbott (1961); it was recombined as Crepidula plana triangula by Weisbord (1962).
