Turbinellus validus was named by Sowerby (1850). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Turbinella validus by Gabb (1873); it was corrected as Turbinella valida by Vokes (1964) and Vokes (1998); it was recombined as Xancus validus by Maury (1917), Woodring (1964) and Schmidt-Effing and Aguilar (2008).
