Nehalemia delicata

Taxonomy
Nehalemia delicata was named by Blake (1973). It is not extant. Its type specimen is University of California Museum of Paleontology, Berkeley, UCMP A-5018, Holotype. Its type locality is Asteroidea, Keasey fm, Mist, which is in a Priabonian/Rupelian marine sandstone in the Keasey Formation of Oregon. It is the type species of Nehalemia.

Blake 1973Flat starfish with long, slender, gently tapering arms and small sub-pentagonal disc; paxillae extend at least 5 mm out arm of base width of about 8 mm; superomarginals probably occupy most of aboral surface in remainder of arms; marginals distinctly encroach on disc, marginals small, short, with rounded margins, large granule bases, spine bases apparently lacking; paxillae small, columnar, tabulae not greatly enlarged.
