Taxonomy
Ophiomusium scabrum was named by Hess (1962). It is not extant. Its type locality is Ophiuridea, Schicht B, Pliensbachian, Seewen, Solothurn, which is in a Pliensbachian/Toarcian offshore claystone in Switzerland.

It was recombined as Mesophiomusium scabrum by Kutscher and Villier (2003).
