Tripartites was named by Farsan (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Tentaculitidae by Farsan (1994); and to Tentaculitida by Sepkoski (2002).
