Taxonomy
Ophiacantha francojurassica was named by Hess (1975). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Naturhistorisches Museum Basel, Holotype M 9123. Its type locality is Humeralis-Schichten, Upper Oxfordian, Raederdorf, Haut-Rhin, which is in an Oxfordian offshore marl in the Humeralis Schichten Formation of France.
