Dunderbergia variagranula was named by Palmer (1954). It is not extant. Its type specimen is USNM 123326, a cephalon/head (cranidium). Its type locality is USGS Coll. 10-CO, which is in a Paibian marine limestone in the Riley Formation of Texas.
