Taxonomy
Helicotis was named by Koken and Perner (1925) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 615]. It is not extant. Its type is Temnodiscus rugifera.

It was assigned to Scaevogyrinae by Knight et al. (1960); to Onychochilidae by Linsley and Kier (1984); and to Hyperstrophina by Sepkoski (2002).
