Taxonomy
Adocus kirtlandius was named by Gilmore (1919). It is not extant. Its type specimen is USNM 8593. Its type locality is south branch, Meyers Creek, which is in a Campanian terrestrial horizon in the Kirtland Formation of New Mexico.
