Omphalocirrus

Taxonomy

Omphalocirrus was named by de Ryckholt (1860) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife D Give Sepkoski's reference number: 362]. Its type is Euomphalus goldfussi. It is the type genus of Omphalocirrinae, Omphalocirridae.

It was assigned to Maclureadae by Knight et al. (1960); to Euomphalidae by Morris and Cleevely (1981); to Hyperstrophina by Sepkoski (2002); and to Omphalocirridae by Wenz (1938), Linsley (1973), Linsley and Kier (1984), Blodgett (1992), Bouchet et al. (2005) and Wagner (2017).

Synonyms

Arctomphalus was named by Tolmachoff (1930). It is not extant. Its type is Arctomphalus grandis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Maclureadae by Knight et al. (1960); it was corrected as Actomphalus by Sepkoski (2002); it was synonymized subjectively with Omphalocirrus by Wagner (2017).

It was assigned to Gastropoda by Tolmachoff (1930); and to Euomphalina by Sepkoski (2002).
Hypomphalocirrus was named by Linsley (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-u D Give Sepkoski's reference number: 362]. It is not extant. Its type is Hypomphalocirrus rugosus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Omphalocirrus by Wagner (2017).

It was assigned to Omphalocirridae by Linsley (1973), Linsley and Kier (1984) and Blodgett (1992); and to Hyperstrophina by Sepkoski (2002).
