Taxonomy
Laeogyra was named by Perner (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi O Ashg Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is not extant. Its type is Laeogyra bohemica.

It was assigned to Onychochilinae by Knight et al. (1960); to Hyperstrophina by Sepkoski (2002); and to Onychochilidae by Linsley and Kier (1984) and Frisk and Ebbestad (2007).
