Exlaminella was named by Carter and Poletaev (1998). It is not extant. Its type is Exlaminella insolita. It is the type genus of Exlaminellinae.
It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Carter and Poletaev (1998); and to Exlaminellinae by Williams et al. (2007).
