Taxonomy

Cybium was named by Cuvier (1829).

It was assigned to Scomberoidei by Agassiz (1835); to Scombridae by de Beaufort (1926), Weiler (1938), Leriche (1942) and Casier (1946); and to Cybiidae by Casier (1966).
