Taxonomy
Kokenospira (Tritonophon) was named by Öpik (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-l D Eife Sepkoski's reference number: 362]. Its type is Nylanderina goldringae.

It was reranked as Tritonophon by Peel (1974), Wahlman (1992), Sepkoski (2002) and Ebbestad et al. (2008).

It was assigned to Kokenospira by Öpik (1953); to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Plectonotinae by Peel (1974), Wahlman (1992) and Ebbestad et al. (2008).
