Taxonomy
Undulabucania was named by Wahlman (1992) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-m O Ashg-l]. Its type is Bellerophon punctifrons. It is the type genus of Undulabucaniinae.

It was assigned to Bucaniinae by Ebbestad (1999); to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Undulabucaniinae by Wahlman (1992) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
