Taxonomy
Plagiostoma grandis was named by Hector (1886) [TYPE LOCALITY: Catlins Coast, Otago (Heterian: Oxfordian).].

It was recombined as Lima (Plagiostoma) grandis by Thomson (1913); it was recombined as Camptonectes grandis by Marwick (1953).
