Adelomelon (Miomelon) was named by Dall (1907) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol R Sepkoski's reference number: 614]. It is extant. Its type is Volutilithes philippiana.

It was reranked as Miomelon by Wenz (1943), Darragh (1989), Sepkoski (2002) and Nielsen and Frassinetti (2007).

It was assigned to Adelomelon by Dall (1907); to Volutidae by Wenz (1943); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Zidoninae by Darragh (1989) and Nielsen and Frassinetti (2007).
