Taxonomy
Comptoniaster weitschati was named by Breton (1988). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, holotype MNHN B 51013. It was considered monophyletic by Breton (1992).

G. Breton 1992Comptoniaster with short blunt arms. The interbrachial arc straight. Maximum width of the marginals in the disk. Nearly 16 marginals per half-arc. Marginals of the disk short, wide, low, the width diminishing to the arm tip. Fine, dense granule-pits covering the entire external face.
