Taxonomy
Comptoniaster destombesi was named by Breton (1988). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle of Le Havre, holotype MHNH 8073a, syntype MHNH 8073. It was considered monophyletic by Breton (1992).

G. Breton 1988Comptoniaster with marginal plates relatively short, squat being higher and longer in the arm. External face domed. Granule-pits relatively large and deep moderately dense. They tend to be blurred and fewer up to disappear on the abradial part of the external face.
