Taxonomy
Comptonia soullansensis was named by Breton (1992). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle of Nantes, holotype MHNN E.A. (f) 2, paratype MHNH 8. It was considered monophyletic by Breton (1992).

G. Breton 1992Marginals curved, of convex to angular profile. External face flattened. Adradial and abradial sides of the external face perpendicular and tend to be saddle-shaped. Marginals tall to moderately tall, relatively long. External face bordered by an obvious step. Ornament of fine dense granular-pits. Intermarginal face reduced, highly concave. Well-developed internal face.
