Taxonomy
Caletaster decombei was named by Breton (1992). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle of Le Havre, holotype MHNH 8199, paratype MHNH 8200. It was considered monophyletic by Breton (1992).

G. Breton 1992Marginals relatively large, curved, convex, external face flat to slightly domed. First superomarginal of the interradius cuneiform. Intermarginal face and lateral faces concave. Granule pits relatively large, deep, all similar and homogeneously distributed on the external face, low density (10 to 12 per square milimeter). Pedicellariae pits oval, winged with a thickened margin.
