Monotis (Inflatomonotis) warepana was named by Grant-Mackie (1980) [TYPE LOCALITY: Kaihiku Stream, Southland, New Zealand (Warepan=Norian). TYPE REPOSITORY: University of Auckland, Geology Dept.]. Its type specimen is L2807 and is not a trace fossil.
