Taxonomy

Stellaster berthandi was named by Wright (1880). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Casts available in several european institutions.

It was recombined as Comptoniaster berthandi by Breton (1983) and Breton (1992); it was recombined as Tylasteria berthandi by Hess (1972), Hess (1973) and Gale (2011).

Diagnosis

G. Breton 1992	Disk pentagonal, interbrachial arc nearly straight. Arms slender. R/r ratio equals 2.5. About 15 superomarginal plates per half-arc. Maximum width of superomarginals in the interbrachial arc. Maximum width of inferomarginal at the third plate. No pedicellariae pits.
