Taxonomy
Stellaster berthandi was named by Wright (1880). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Casts available in several european institutions.

It was recombined as Comptoniaster berthandi by Breton (1983) and Breton (1992); it was recombined as Tylasteria berthandi by Hess (1972), Hess (1973) and Gale (2011).
