Comptoniaster comptoni
Taxonomy
Goniaster (Stellaster) comptoni was named by Forbes (1848). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Natural History Musem, London, syntype BNHM OR 34311. It is the type species of Comptoniaster.
It was recombined as Stellaster comptoni by Forbes (1850), Dujardin and Hupé (1862) and Carpenter (1882); it was recombined as Comptonia comptoni by Spencer (1905), Spencer (1913) and Spencer and Wright (1966); it was recombined as Comptoniaster comptoni by Breton (1983), Smith et al. (1988), Breton (1992) and Lewis (1993).
