Forbesiaster gaensis was named by Jux (1957). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Geologisches Institut der Universität Köhln, Holotype Ä K 98.

U. Jux 1957A species of Forbesiaster with quadrate, convex marginal plates with an granulate outer face. Superomarginals slightly smaller than the inferomarginals. Abactinals small, convex. Actinolaterals relatively large, restricted to the interradius and bearing spines. Ambulacral furrow wide and deep. Block-like adambulacrals with tuf of spines.
