Taxonomy
Phanerotinus was named by Sowerby (1844) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is not extant. Its type is Euomphalus cristatus.

It was assigned to Euomphalidae by Knight et al. (1960), Morris and Cleevely (1981) and Linsley and Kier (1984); and to Euomphalina by Sepkoski (2002).
