Taxonomy
Glyptospira tricostata was named by Erwin (1988). Its type specimen is USNM 419284, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM724, Gym Peak, Florida Mountains, which is in a Sakmarian shallow subtidal limestone in the Alacran Mountain Formation of New Mexico.
