Affiniptyxis was named by Lyssenko and Aliev (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: K Berr-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1198]. Its type is Nerina seminodosa.

It was assigned to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nerinellidae by Raisossadat and Noori (2016).
