Taxonomy
Lepetopsis franae was named by Lipman and Langenheim (1983). Its type specimen is X-6045, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Bird spring Group at Arrow Canyon, Unit 216, sample EL 216-41, which is in a Virgilian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Nevada.
