Euomphalus (Straparollus) utahensis was named by Hall and Whitfield (1877). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Straparollus utahensis by Girty (1899); it was recombined as Straparollus (Euomphalus) utahensis by Yochelson (1962); it was recombined as Euomphalus utahensis by Girty (1912), Girty (1915), Girty (1920), Girty (1927) and Wagner (2023).
