Nucula obliqua was named by Lamarck (1819) [DISTRIBUTION: Australia (Recent). HISTORY: Type by original designation of Ennucula Iredale 1931.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Leionucula obliqua by Lamprell and Healy (1998); it was recombined as Ennucula obliqua by Iredale (1931) and Beu (2006).
