Thecodontichnus verrucae
Taxonomy
Ichnites verrucae was named by Tommasi (1886). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Agnano tracksite, Monte Pisano, which is in a Carnian delta plain siltstone/claystone in the Quarziti de Monte Serra Formation of Italy. It is the type species of Thecodontichnus.
It was recombined as Thecodontichnus verrucae by Huene (1941), Leonardi (1951), Heller (1952), Kuhn (1958), Schmidt (1959), Kuhn (1963), Haubold (1969), Haubold (1971), Demathieu and Haubold (1972) and Tongiorgi (1980).
