Struthopus schaumburgensis was named by Ballerstedt (1922). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Harrl quarry tracksite, Bückeburg, which is in a Berriasian terrestrial sandstone in the Bückeberg Formation of Germany.
