Austriacopsis was named by Haber (1932) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-u J Tith-u Sepkoski's reference number: 661].

It was assigned to Emarginulinae by Knight et al. (1960); to Fissurellidae by Szabo (1980) and Conti and Szabó (1989); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
