Nunnaspis was named by Brezinski (2000). Its type is Nunnaspis stitti.

It was assigned to Phillipsiidae by Brezinski (2000); and to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).

D. K. Brezinski 2000Exoskeleton low in relief with moderate vaulting, lacking border furrows. Glabella expands forward, lateral glabellar furrows effaced except for S1 which is weakly impressed, frontal lobe merges with anterior border. Posterior portion of glabella and occipital ring depressed between palpebral lobes to form a wide occipital furrow, that is V-shaped in longitudinal profile. Pygidium semicircular, axial and pleural furrows weakly impressed.
