Yoldiellinae was named by Allen and Hannah (1986) [HISTORY: Yoldiellidae J.A. Allen 1978, nom. nud., Yoldiellinae J.A. Allen 1985, nom. nud. [Coan et al. 2000].]. It is extant.
It was considered an invalid subgroup of Bivalvia by Bouchet et al. (2010).
It was assigned to Yoldiidae by Coan et al. (2000); and to Sareptidae by Maxwell (1992) and Carter et al. (2011).
