Mitra (Strigatella) perturbatrix was named by Maury (1917) [TYPE LOCALITY: Gurabo Fm, Rio Gurabo, at Los Quemados, Dominican Republic. TYPE REPOSITORY: PRI, New York (Lectotype).]. Its type specimen is PRI 28710 and is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Enaeta perturbatrix by Emerson (1964) and Woodring (1964); it was recombined as Lyria (Enaeta) perturbatrix by Hoerle and Vokes (1978) and Vokes (1998).
