Rhynchotrematidae was named by Schuchert (1913).
It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Macomber (1970); to Rhynchonellacea by Bassett and Cocks (1974), Rubel and Rozman (1977) and Mitchell (1977); to Rhynchonelloidea by Jin and Chatterton (1997); and to Rhynchotrematoidea by Williams et al. (2002).
It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Macomber (1970); to Rhynchonellacea by Bassett and Cocks (1974), Rubel and Rozman (1977) and Mitchell (1977); to Rhynchonelloidea by Jin and Chatterton (1997); and to Rhynchotrematoidea by Williams et al. (2002).
