Prototherium intermedium

Taxonomy

Prototherium intermedium was named by Bizzotto (1983).

Synonyms

Prototherium solei was named by Pilleri et al. (1989). Its type specimen is 441, Coll. J. Sole, Tona, a partial skeleton, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Tona, Vic area, La Guixa Member, Ebro Basin, Catalonia, which is in a Bartonian deep subtidal shelf marl in the Vic Marls Formation of Spain.

It was synonymized subjectively with Prototherium intermedium by Domning (1996); it was recombined as Prototherium intermedium solei by Bizzotto (2005).
Prototherium montserratense was named by Pilleri et al. (1989). Its type specimen is MGSB 44.892, a partial skeleton, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Castellbell i Vilar, which is in a Bartonian marine horizon in Spain.

It was synonymized subjectively with Prototherium intermedium by Domning (1996); it was recombined as Prototherium intermedium montserratense by Bizzotto (2005).
