Cirsochilus was named by Cossmann (1888) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo T Plio]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Collonia (Cirsochilus) by Cossmann (1907).

It was assigned to Collonia by Cossmann (1907); to Turbinidae by Palmer (1937); to Liotiinae by MacNeil (1960); to Colloniinae by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
