Taxonomy
Chlamys benedicti was named by Dall (1898) [DISTRIBUTION: Western Atlantic (Recent).]. It is extant. It is the type species of Spathochlamys.

It was recombined as Chlamys (Chlamys) benedicti by Weisbord (1964); it was recombined as Spathochlamys benedicti by Waller (1993) and Coan et al. (2000).
